Mr. Arun Malhotra

Portfolio Manager & Partner

Mr. Arun has more than 25 years of experience in the Indian Capital markets. Stocks and Investing were always a passion for him since his childhood days. He gained trading and research experience with BLB Ltd in early 1990’s and moved to DBS Capital Trust Securities (part of DBS Bank, Singapore) in the year 1997 to set up their Indian equity broking operations from scratch. He was responsible for their business strategy, Compliance and Operations. He had a short stint with Manning & Napier, Rochester, New York in Year 2003 and came back to India in 2005 to join a U.S hedge fund in Mumbai. This fund was promoted by Randal Smith, a pioneer in distressed investing. He managed this fund along with a colleague till 2013. The peak corpus size was $300 Mn and was invested across the capital structure of the firms. Majority of the money was invested in public equities along with the busted FCCBs. The performance was well above the benchmark indices throughout the various cycles. Post 2013 when the fund was closed, Arun was involved in primarily two things- as a consultant to a European Investment Bank for their Investment banking business in India and managing/investing his own money in listed equities. The performance of the proprietary portfolio has far exceeded the benchmarks with complete focus on quality stocks and special situation investment approach.

Arun Malhotra completed his executive MBA from FMS Delhi during 1997-2000 and his full-time two-year M.B.A (2001-03) from one of the top business schools in Finance - Simon Business School, University of Rochester, New York.
